Fuels like gasoline and diesel must maintain their storage and thermo-oxidative stability to increase the efficiency or power out put of the engine. Otherwise unwanted by-products such as gums, sludge and deposits affect engine’s performance. Two types of oxidative degradation may occur after fuel production in refinery that determines the quality of fuel. The first occurs during long  periods of storage conditions at ambient temperature and the second one has an impact on high temperature stability as it passes through the vehicle intake system. Poor stability of fuel forms soluble and insoluble high molecular weight gums and organic particulates contributing increased deposits in fuel injectors, clogged fuel filters, and smoking leading to higher PM emissions. High performance Polnox antioxidants play a key role in improving the oxidative stability of fuels. The performance of Polnox’s newly developed antioxidant shows excellent performance compared to state of the art commercial antioxidants as presented in the figure in diesel fuel. Customer validated data in the figure using ASTM D7545  presents the opportunity to increase fuel’s energy efficiency using Polnox antioxidants.
